How to Help
Become a Locavore! Locavore's are people who deliberately source their food from the closest possible origin. Attending markets in the summer for your products, and focusing on smaller businesses in your area (even a little bit!) can help tremendously.
Petition for community gardens and community events. Reach out to local politicians and community groups to establish the importance of neighborhood farms. Churches, HOA's, Schools, and Family Centers are a great place to start. Talk to your neighbors, build relationships around mutual support and growth! Bring back the barter system, you'll be amazed to learn what skills the people around you hold.
Start your own garden. If you have the means, establish your own garden! Utilize it as a teaching and inspirational experience for friends, neighbors, and family. Everyone will come to you for plant knowledge in no time, you will feel like a magical purveyor of botanical knowledge.
Share local businesses. If you know of a local farmer, creator, market, or store, but have no ability to support them directly, share them with everyone you know! Business owners need all the support they can get from their community.
